Amphilochia: He killed his wife and committed suicide

Police are investigating every possible version

Newsroom July 13 09:50

A horrific crime occurred at dawn today in Amfilochia.

A 43-year-old man killed his 36-year-old estranged wife and mother of their two children in Amfilochia, before taking his own life with the same hunting rifle. According to initial reports, the perpetrator had laid in wait outside the victim’s home. Two days earlier, on Thursday, the victim had filed a complaint against him for domestic violence and threats, but authorities had not been able to arrest him. The woman had declined the offer of a panic button and refuge accommodation.

Additionally, on May 12 of the previous year, the perpetrator had been arrested following a complaint by his estranged wife for domestic violence, insult, threats, and bodily harm. He was brought to trial and acquitted.

Reports indicate that in the early hours of the morning, the 43-year-old arrived at the woman’s house armed with a shotgun. His 13-year-old daughter saw him and screamed. A neighbor from the upper floor, hearing the screams, came down and saw the man with the shotgun, realizing the impending danger and tried to stop him. At that moment, the woman was returning home in her car. Enraged and determined, the man jumped from the balcony onto the car’s hood, first shooting her through the windshield and then again through the window, ending her life. He then went behind the car and committed suicide.
