A large bear was trapped – for an unknown reason – late last night in the city center of Argos Orestiko, Kastoria.

Initially the animal was spotted by a group of youngsters, who saw it running in panic on the main streets of the small town. The police and fire brigade were immediately informed, while the mechanism for dealing with such incidents was activated. Reports from residents said thatat another part of the town there was the presence of a small bear, which appeared to be her cub, which, for some reason, was separated from its mother. With the help of officials of the Forestry Department of Kastoria and with the use of firecrackers, the bear, after two hours, was led to the exit of the city.

The mayor of Argos Orestiko, Panagiotis Keppapsoglou, who from the first moment was on the spot, participating in the efforts to free the animal, obviously annoyed by the development of the event, but also by the continuous incidents of bear presence in residential areas, said to the local media of Kastoria that in the next period “everything will change for those who think that we can live together”.
