555 houses, stores and cars have sustained damages due to flooding caused by last Friday’s torrential rain, Interior Minister Argiris Dinopoulos told MEGA TV on Sunday, citing data released by the Hellenic Fire Service.

Mr. Dinopoulos said that the process of recording the damages will be completed by Sunday afternoon and that the funds for the compensation of those who have been affected will be released within the week.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Friday ordered the release of emergency funds to the help the worst-affected areas and also called for reports from competent authorities on specific measures to be taken in the future, “as we see the same problem occurring over and over again.”
