Grief has been caused by the news of the death of former Masterchef contestant, Demi Georgiou.
The 39-year-old was transported by helicopter to Athens where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the General State Hospital of Nice, but was unable to overcome the serious infection. The last “farewell” will be said by relatives and friends on Thursday, July 25. As it became known, the funeral of the former Masterchef contestant will take place at noon at the A’ Cemetery.
According to a post by her friends on social media, Demis’ wish was for everyone to be there dressed in white. “Instead of wreaths, Demi would like you to donate to the stray animals of Paros. Let’s all pray for her soul together,” her close friends said in the video, hours after her death.

The last moments of Demis Georgiou
Her close friend Thanasis Karachalios, who would be one of her best men at the chef’s planned wedding with her partner next September, spoke about everything she experienced in Paros, on the show Summer’s Cool.
Demi Georgiou seemed to feel that the end was near, with Thanasis Karachalios confessing everything that took place in her final moments.
“I saw Demi Georgiou in a state that no one would have wanted to see her. The message ‘Thanasis I’m dying’ is something that gives you goosebumps beyond realization. You say to yourself, “Demi is just kidding in that she was a person who liked to laugh. We couldn’t understand what was happening until we saw her,” Thanasis Karachalios said.
She was found in an awful state
“Demi had symptoms of fatigue for the last 10 days or so, she couldn’t feel her limbs, she felt numb, and was in a lot of pain, she was diagnosed with gastroenteritis so the medication she was taking was for gastroenteritis,” said her close friend Adrianna Manetta speaking to MEGA channel.
“She was feeling a lot of pain and was not coming to the restaurant. Saturday evening we realized that something much more serious was wrong, she believed that if she closed her eyes the pain would ‘go away’, and these were her last messages. That’s when her partner and companion understood that something much more serious was happening to her. He closed the shop earlier when he found Demi at home in an awful state. Time was wasted, the ambulance came and took her to the Health Centre however there was no available helicopter. Therefore, she was transferred to Athens Sunday morning, but by then she had already suffered septic shock and was in a comatose state. The first tests done by the State Hospital in Nikea showed her body was infected leaving no hope.”
“On Monday she was scheduled for medical tests but she didn’t have time,” her close friend said.
