A major fire, accompanied by explosions, broke out shortly after 6 p.m. at the Waste Transfer Station in Rizario Trikala.

According to trikalavoice, tons of garbage from surrounding areas had been deposited in the area after the devastating “Daniel” flooding, which hit the Trikala prefecture last September.

There, flammable materials “caught fire” after successive days of heatwave, resulting in today’s development.

Strong fire brigade forces are operating at the scene.
