US Elections 2024: Just before his 100th birthday, Jimmy Carter is ready to vote for Kamala Harris

The former president is informed about Joe Biden's withdrawal and the vice president's candidacy

Newsroom August 21 07:45

Although he is in a care facility, former President Jimmy Carter is regularly updated on developments within the Democratic Party.

His grandson, Jason Carter, stated that the former president is “super informed” about the changes happening in the presidential campaign, including Joe Biden’s withdrawal and Kamala Harris’s candidacy.

Recently, as CNN reports, the family discussed the upcoming 100th birthday of the former president on October 1.

“Yes, I’m excited about that, but I’m really excited to vote for Kamala Harris,” the former president said, according to his grandson.

Jason Carter added that Carter is “enthusiastic about the prospects we have to turn a new page,” a time when Donald Trump is somehow a “constant presence in our politics.”

Carter, who is a friend of Joe Biden, closely followed the president’s decision to withdraw from the race. Biden was, after all, the first senator to support Carter’s candidacy in 1976, and last year revealed Carter’s desire to deliver his own eulogy.
