The Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs’ municipalities program “Neighborhood Nannies”, currently being piloted in only 62 municipalities across the country, is being extended to all municipalities.

The program will be extended to all municipalities in the country and will help parents in the care and supervision of infants and toddlers and make their daily lives easier.

Nanny Neighborhood Nanny is a program aimed at parents with children from 2 months to 2.5 years old and aims to support families and help young people create their own families.

Even grandmothers, grandparents and other relatives who wish to look after their grandchildren or nephews can participate in the program and be paid 500 euros per month.

Parents have the possibility to make a simple application and include grandmothers, grandparents and relatives who are already taking care of or wish to take care of their grandchildren, nephews, etc.

In particular, with a simple procedure grandmothers and grandfathers can receive 500 euros per month and take care of their grandchildren. As long as the grandmothers or grandfathers are pensioners, they will have to declare it to the EFKA as the provisions for pensioners’ work apply.

Sofia Zacharaki in a recent interview, said:

“Because someone who follows us may not know what the program is to explain that if you are an unemployed mother if you are working you can have help even for a few hours,” the Minister explained, stressing that “we come with the payment through employer’s stamp and we cover a very important need which is for younger children up to 2, 5 years old because after the child can go to daycare” stressed the Minister.

At the same time, she pointed out that this year the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family allocated almost 380 million euros for more than 173,000 vouchers to nurseries and Creative Employment Centers.

“It is a holistic effort that we are integrating into the national action plan on demography to give parents more choices. We want parents to be able to have quality care at home or at the daycare center.”

Each Nanny is allowed to provide services at the same time and place:

(a) up to the number of three children, for children between the ages of 2 months and 2.5 years, of which only one child may be under the age of one year,

The application on the ntantades.gov.gr platform can be submitted by guardians and guardianship workers and parents seeking a person to assist them in the care of their child. Interested persons can apply until 30/9/2024 and until the available budget is exhausted.
