When adopting a pet, the most important issue we should focus on is their well-being. Pet care is not just about providing good food and essential medical treatment, but also ensuring proper training. The combination of these factors creates the foundation for a fulfilling life with as few problems as possible.
To mark World Animal Day, two experts, veterinarian Lefteris Makrythanasis and animal trainer and therapy handler Konstantina Thanasoula, spoke with journalist Myrto Tzortzou for Topetmou. They discussed essential aspects of pet well-being.
Dr. Makrythanasis explained why pet owners should visit their veterinarian regularly, beyond the obvious reasons. He also shed light on spaying and neutering, a topic that remains divisive in Greece. He discussed the benefits of spaying/neutering and when it might be best to avoid it. On the other hand, Ms. Thanasoula emphasized the importance of proper training in a dog’s well-being and revealed the top reason pet owners seek her help for training.
