Authorities in Bamako, capital of Mali ordered the shutdown of a clinic on Tuesday, as there were suspicions about a possible Ebola virus case.

A health sector official said that the person believed to be exposed to the virus is a nurse working in a clinic, who died on Tuesday. Government officials did not make any further comments about the shutting down of the clinic, about the death of the nurse or if tests had shown that the nurse was indeed exposed to the virus. Diplomats and officials also stated that the nurse had come in contact with a man travelling from Guinea who had Ebola symptoms. The man died in the last days of October. According to aforementioned officials, there were no tests done on the man on whether he had Ebola, during his stay in the clinic.

Mali became the sixth country in West Africa where a deadly Ebola “hit” was recorded, when a two year old girl died from exposure to the virus. Since then, there have been no more confirmed cases, whereas 108 people who came in contact with the child were quarantined for 21 days, during which the symptoms of the virus may appear.
