Labour Ministry says debt settlement plan is hugely “successful”

Almost 5,000 applications were made over the last week

The Labour, Social Security and Welfare Ministry announced that the number of people submitting applications for the new debt settlement plan that allows people who owe money to the government in 100 installments has increased over the last few days. The total number of applications made were 4,979 amounting to 132,176,563.89 euros.

Insurance funds received 4,067,631.23 euros within a week and the bulk of the amount worth 2,028,681.99 euros was collected on November 18.

Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis says that the first week has proven that the measure is “successful” and he said that even more people will apply to join over the coming days. “It is the last window of opportunity for those who really want to become responsible and conscientious with their insurance obligations,” he said.

IKA – 2,885 applications (108,067,814.68 euros)
OAEE (self-employed) – 1,688 applications (20,706,335.08 euros)
OGA (farmers’ fund) – 406 applications (3,402,414.13 euros)
