The details of the 64-year-old retired teacher from Heraklion, Crete, who was arrested for raping six children between 1986 and 2010, the youngest being a boy who is now 19 and was then just 5 years old, have been released.
It was this boy who revealed the tangle of sexual abuse by his uncle, a person who was trusted by the family and could find time alone with the children.
The defendant’s victims include two brothers, a girl who is now 29, her 19-year-old brother, three sisters aged 35, 38 and 43, and a woman who is now 48.
The rapes allegedly took place between 1986 and 2010, sparking outrage in the local community.
The statement of the National Police:
The police statement reads: “Given to the public, following a relevant order of the Prosecutor of Heraklion, the identity details and photographs of a 64-year-old resident, against whom criminal proceedings were brought for abuse of a minor under the age of 12 years.
He is: (née) KASTRINAKI (née) Emmanuel of Theophilos and Irene, born in 1960 in Heraklion.
This publication, according to the relevant Prosecutor’s Order, is aimed at protecting minors and society as a whole and the need to realize the State’s claim for the punishment of the above offenses.
In this context, citizens are requested to contact the Heraklion Security Subdirectorate by telephone at 2810274070 and 2810274258, for the provision of any relevant information. It is noted that anonymity and confidentiality of communication are ensured.
It should be noted that this disclosure is for two months, by the Prosecutor’s Order. Beyond this time limit, the maintenance and/or reproduction of the publication of the above information is not allowed and is contrary to the law.”
