Erdoğan calls emergency Security Council meeting after armed attack on Turkish Aerospace Industry

President cuts BRICS Summit short following deadly incident near capital

Newsroom October 24 06:22

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has convened an emergency security council meeting at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport upon his arrival from Kazan, Russia, where he departed before completing his schedule at the BRICS Summit.

The emergency meeting comes in response to an armed attack yesterday at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) near the Turkish capital, resulting in five fatalities.

“Whoever has attacked our nation will pay; the fight against terrorism continues,” Erdoğan stated.

The President condemned the attack, which he described as despicable, just 24 hours after the terrorist incident. In a detailed announcement, he referred to it as “a vile attack against the peace of our nation and our defense initiatives.”

Erdoğan praised the security forces for their swift intervention, which neutralized the terrorists.

“Our nation must know that the dirty hands reaching out to Türkiye will be uprooted once and for all. No structure, no terrorist organization, no malicious actor targeting our security will achieve their objectives,” he emphasized.

“Our struggle against all kinds of terrorist threats and their supporters will continue resolutely and on multiple fronts,” he added.
