The market is called to assess the results of the first round of local and regional elections.

It seems that there are no winners nor losers in the first round of elections: The victory of SYRIZA with Mrs Dourou in Attica region does not seem to surprise the analysts, although it sends a message to the coalition government for the European elections. The difference was decreased, while the marginal lead of Mrs Kaminis in Athens Municipality brings a balance to the election results.

The government, though, says that there is no question of early elections, while it seems that the goal of New Democracy was to win or have its candidates in the second round.

Therefore, the result is not so clear and the reaction of investors is expected to be unpredictable. The results of regional elections might be balanced, but they also might incorporate the risk of voters’ movement in elections. Of course this does not differ a lot from the basic scenario that they expected.
