The decision follows an incident last Saturday night when underage patrons were hospitalized after consuming alcohol at the bar in question.
During the meeting, Deputy Mayor for Municipal Police and Public Spaces, Thomas Georgiadis, informed the Council that two establishments operate on Vouliagmenis Avenue, with initial licenses issued in 2020 for both, and a corrective license granted in 2022 for the current company.
A legal representative of the bar’s owner attended the session, presenting arguments as to why the license should not be revoked.
However, following the unanimous approval of the motion, Mayor Charis Doukas commented, “It’s significant that we reached a unanimous decision on this issue and sent a message. Additionally, we can collaborate across party lines to send a letter to the government, urging them to legislate to grant the Municipal Police the authority to intervene in such cases.”
