Venezuela government announced that thirteen prisoners lost their lives after storming in prisons medical office and drunk pure alcohol and antibiotics.
A total of 145 prisoners revolted and stormed in the office of the penitentiary institution David Viloria in Lara state in western Venezuela, said a government statement.
The prisoners prior to the incident had begun a hunger strike demanding the removal of a prison officer, but soon the protests turned into rebellion.
The lawyer of a non-governmental organization “Observatory of Prisons” Marianela Sanchez, said that she doubts the official statement. “”I do not believe that an inmate grabbed a bottle of pure alcohol and drank it, is stupid” she said and asked for an inquiry.
