The government proposes that VAT is increased only in hotels as a counter wait to Troika’s initial demand

Greek side accepts to increase the age limit on early retirement but draws a "red live" on further pension reductions

Following the fruitless talks between government -lenders in Paris, the final proposal to Troika seems to be finalized after the meeting of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance earlier on.

In order to close the deal and Troika to return in Greece, the Greek side decided to propose  an increase only in hotels. The decision was made on the basis of no further burden to citizens.

So, food products and medicines will not have an increased VAT.

Further, the Greek government insists refusing on further  pension reductions but accepts  to increase the age limit on early retirement.

Greece will submit the new proposals promptly and will be awaiting Troika’s reaction.

The meeting between Mr. Antonis Samaras with Mr. Evangelos Venizelos and Mr. Gikas Hardouvelis was about two hours long and was completed just before four o’ clock in the afternoon.
