The main subject of discussion during the meeting between the President of the Republic and the President of Parliament is expected to be the dates for the Presidential election.

During the meeting Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis will share his thoughts on the issue of elections for the next President of the Republic in Parliament and the time schedule.

According to the letter of the Constitution the procedure for electing the new President starts at least one month before the expiration of the term of the current  President, which in this case is the 12th of February 12.

According to information In any case Mr. Meimarakis wants to avoid a posible extension of the Mr. Papoulias service.

However, it is worth mentioning that the government has already announced that the election process  for the new President of the Republic will begin in early February.
