Specifically, 4,737,569.76 euros were credited for compensation to affected livestock farmers and 785,091.15 euros were credited for aid to citizens who suffered collateral economic damage from the restrictive measures imposed.
Finally, 162,590.10 euros were credited for operating expenditures to the Regions to meet the increased needs created to deal with animal diseases.
Finally the protection and surveillance zones
Finally, it is noted that today, 3 December 2024, the country has managed to no longer have protection and surveillance zones due to the plague outbreaks.
As the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, said, “This success is due to one single factor: the cooperation of all parties involved, especially the farmers, with the country’s veterinary services and veterinarians in the faithful implementation of the European Regulation 687/2020”.
“As a result, our country received the praise of the EU for the way it dealt with the zoonosis and became a model for other European countries. The same should be done for smallpox, the successful treatment of which, lies in the hands of all of us. I am sure that cooperation between all the stakeholders and the farmers will bring the desired result”, Mr. Tsiaras added.
