Traffic changes on Saturday and Sunday

Traffic to the city center will be affected over the weekend

Newsroom December 6 10:36

The metro stations of Katehaki, Evangelismos and Megaron Moussikis are shut from 11 a.m. on Saturday due to the visit of Turkish Prime Minister to Greece.

There will changes to bus, trolley and tram routes running through the center of Athens from 10 a.m. on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Sunday. Changes to the 122 and A3 routes have also been made.

Other traffic measures are being taken at the following regions:

All of Vas. Sofias Avenue
All of Vas. Konstandinou Avenue
Mesogeion Avenue from Katehaki Street to Vas. Sofias Avenue
Mihalakopoulou Avenue, the lane leading to the city center

Alternative traffic suggestions

Those heading to the Athens center from the Northern suburb should use Kifissias Avenue, Alexandras Avenue, Ymittou Avenue (for those heading to the southern suburb), Kifissou Avenue (for those heading to Peiraeus).
Those heading from the southern suburbs to downtown Athens should use Ymittou Avenue. Those heading from the southern suburbs to the Northern Suburbs should use Ymittou Avenue.
Those heading from Piraeus to the city center should use Pireos Street. Those heading from Piraeus to the northern suburbs should use Kifissou Avenue.

A protest rally is taking place at noon on Saturday as well as another one at 6 p.m. on Saturday, both at Propylaia, to commemorate the death of Alexis Grigoropoulos, a young boy shot dead at Exarhia, even though the police banned gatherings until 3 p.m. on Saturday. Another gathering is expected at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
