Three different types of weather will “hit” the country over the weekend of December 14, 15 and Monday, December 16. According to Giannis Kallianou‘s forecast, changes will gradually be seen in the weather, which will evolve from mild, to “P” type to “brisk”.
“I’m not going to say what the weather will be like on Christmas because we still have 13 days to go. There’s a ‘weather zoom’ for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have three different types of weather in three days. On Friday the weather will be mild. On Saturday, rains are expected in the northern and western parts of the country, while on Sunday we expect “P” type weather again with strong winds and localized rains,” said well-known meteorologist Yannis Kallianos.
“From Monday we will have “northern stream” weather. This is the third type of weather we will see in that three-day period. The winds will blow from the north and as a result the temperature will drop considerably. Monday will be “wintry”, not extreme but the mercury will drop and reach 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, while snow is expected in the mountains.
In Attica and Euboea it will snow at altitudes above 900 meters, while in Crete snowfall will be more dense in the mountains above 1200 meters. In Anogia it will be a surprise if it will snow, I expect snow at altitudes above Anogia.”
In a post on Facebook, meteorologist George Tsatrafillias says that snow is not excluded in areas of Attica from Monday.
On Saturday the new element of the weather development is the strong south winds in the Ionian Sea and local storms from noon onwards in the west and on Sunday in the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.
During the weekend and on Monday we expect rain in other regions such as Macedonia, Thessaly, Cyclades and Crete.
However, there will be a notable drop in temperature (6-8 degrees) on Sunday and Monday. It will also snow in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece.
From Tuesday the temperature will rise again.
I would like to emphasize that the above phenomena will not be particularly intense. I also do not exclude Monday morning ‘sprinkles’ in Parnitha. For Christmas… for now I see mild weather conditions”.
