The Santa Claus basket premieres today, which this year will run until Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
This initiative, which comes in addition to the Christmas basket already in force, is compulsory for businesses specialising in the sale of children’s toys to the consumer public, whose total annual turnover exceeds €1 million.

According to the Ministry of Development, the Santa Claus basket aimed at helping consumers make purchases for young children includes, as last year:
- Brief toys
- Boards/Puzzels
- Action figures
- Craft & Creation Toys
- Vehicles – Remote Controlled
- Electronic Games
- Sport Games
- Dolls, dollhouses, and other accessories
- Toy toys
- Musical toys
The Christmas Basket is in place
Six product categories (chard, goat, turkey, brioche, basil pie and chocolate) made the premiere the “Christmas basket” in supermarkets, which will be available until Friday 3 January 2025.
According to the Ministry of Development, prices of the products in the basket are expected to be the same or lower than last year’s prices in many cases.

Also in force is the festive opening hours of shops, which will be open from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm and will remain open until 6.00 pm on all Sundays until New Year’s Day. Traders have high expectations for the festive period, as they hope that turnover will reach last year’s level of €4 billion for the same period.
