A cinematic-style double robbery unfolded on Thursday morning at two bank branches in the Nea Ionia area, where the perpetrators made off with cash before vanishing.
The heist began shortly after 9 a.m. when three individuals reportedly stormed a bank branch on Heraklion Avenue, stealing an undisclosed amount of money.
Within five minutes, the same group crossed to the opposite side of Heraklion Avenue and targeted a second bank branch, successfully seizing more cash.
After their swift operation, the robbers fled to Elpidos Street, where an accomplice waited with two motorcycles. However, one of the motorbikes failed to start. This forced two robbers to escape on the second bike while the other two fled on foot toward Seizani Street.
Police officers from the OCSE unit later recovered the stolen motorbike, which was transported to the Criminal Investigation Department for forensic analysis.
