After many months of negotiations, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas appears to be within reach, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, commenting on information reaching him from Doha.
“We understand how painful for Israel any deal with the terrorist organization Hamas is. Nevertheless, the lives of the hostages must now have the highest priority,” Solts said, adding that the opportunity for a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering in Gaza is being offered.
Hamas briefed Palestinian factions on the progress of negotiations
The Hamas , meanwhile, said in a statement that it hopes for a “clear and comprehensive agreement”in the ongoing ceasefire deal talks in Doha.
Hamas said it had held consultations with other Palestinian factions – such as Islamic Jihad, which also holds hostages – and briefed them on the “progress made”.
