The Kremlin Responds to Tusk: Unfounded allegations of Russian terrorist actions in Europe

"Poland is known for making such accusations," Peskov remarked

Newsroom January 16 02:24

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov today declined to comment on a Bloomberg report about limited talks between Russia and Ukraine in Qatar concerning the protection of nuclear facilities from attacks.

The Kremlin also stated today that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s accusation that Russia has planned “terrorist actions” in the air against Poland and other countries is entirely unfounded.

Tusk made this claim yesterday, Wednesday, after meeting in Warsaw with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He was apparently referring to packages that exploded in supply warehouses in Europe, incidents Western security officials said were part of a test for a Russian plan to cause explosions on cargo flights to the United States.

“These are completely unfounded accusations against Russia,” Peskov told reporters when asked about Tusk’s statement. “Poland is known for making such accusations,” he added.

The Kremlin spokesperson also stated that Russia welcomes any resolution that leads to security in Gaza, following the announcement of an agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Peskov further announced today that Russia is ready to supply gas to Transnistria, which is facing an energy crisis that has led to blackouts and a lack of heating in the breakaway region from Moldova.

Transnistria, which seceded from Moldova after the collapse of the Soviet Union, relied on Russian natural gas delivered via Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities have refused to extend the agreement for the transit of Russian gas for 2025.
