Donald Trump Sworn in as 47th President of the USA – “Today is Liberation Day”
“The golden age of America starts now,” promised Donald Trump, immediately after taking the oath of office and assuming the role of the 47th president of the United States.
“From today, our country will bloom and will once again be respected around the world,” he said, committing that he would be “honest” about the challenges the country would face.
Trump, calling today “Liberation Day,” also warned that he intends to attack the “corrupt and radical elite” that “has seized power and wealth for many years.”
He then outlined the first measures he would take.
As he had previously announced, he stated that he would sign a series of executive orders today, declaring a state of emergency at the southern U.S. border and sending the military, promising that “all illegal entries will stop” while “millions and millions” of illegal immigrants would be deported. Those who are arrested will be detained, ending the “catch and release” policy.
As part of the measures to be taken, cartels will be labeled as “foreign terrorist organizations” under the 1798 Foreign Enemies Act.
A state of emergency will also be declared in the energy sector, with the aim of replenishing strategic reserves and exporting American energy “to the whole world.” “We will become a rich country again, and this ‘black gold’ beneath our feet will help us with that,” he said.
The “restructuring” of the trade system will also begin, tariffs and taxes will be imposed on foreign countries “to make our citizens rich,” as he said.
Trump also confirmed that his administration would recognize only two genders, “male and female.”
“We will take back the Panama Canal”
He repeated that he would rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and threatened that the U.S. “will take back the Panama Canal,” which was “stupidly given to Panama,” because, as he said, “American ships are being overcharged.”
Trump Pulls the U.S. Out of the Paris Climate Agreement Again
The new U.S. president is withdrawing the country from the Paris Climate Agreement, according to a document from the White House released today.
During his first term, Trump had already pulled the U.S. out of this agreement.
Democratic former president Joe Biden rejoined the U.S. in the Agreement, and now, during his new term, Trump decides once again to withdraw.

Trump’s speech today 14 minutes longer than in 2017
A statistical look at Donald Trump’s speech after the inauguration: in 2017, he spoke for 16 minutes. Today, he spoke 14 minutes longer.
In the near future, we will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, said Trump
President Donald Trump also stated that he would change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, highlighting various actions he would immediately undertake.
“America will claim its rightful position as the largest, strongest, and most respected nation on Earth – inspiring awe and admiration from the entire world,” Trump said. “In the near future, we will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.”
Trump: Tariffs on foreign countries to enrich our citizens
Trump also presented the plan for the so-called Foreign Revenue Service, a scheme for collecting tariffs from “foreign sources.”
“We will price and tax foreign countries so that our citizens get rich,” Trump said. “For this purpose, we are establishing the Foreign Revenue Service to collect all tariffs and revenues.”
He added that this would bring “huge amounts of money” to the country’s treasury “coming from foreign sources.”
His former advisor, Steve Bannon, proposed the idea on his “War Room” podcast in recent days as part of a plan to ease some of the burden of government funding on American taxpayers.
Trump’s fire at the Biden administration: “They gave unlimited funds to defend foreign borders but refused to defend Americans”
Trump criticized the outgoing Biden administration on border security, saying: “We now have a government that can’t even manage a simple crisis at home while simultaneously stumbling through a continuous list of catastrophic events abroad. It fails to protect our great, law-abiding American citizens, but provides asylum and protection to dangerous criminals, many of whom come from prisons and psychiatric institutions and have illegally entered our country from all over the world.”
“We have a government that has given unlimited funding to defend foreign borders but refuses to defend American borders or, more importantly, its own people,” the president added.
Trump: “We will declare a state of emergency and send troops to the southern border”
Trump said that he would declare a national state of emergency at the southern border, just as he did in 2019.
He also mentioned that he would send troops to the southern border.
Biden and Harris watched silently as these announcements were made.
In 2019, Trump used the declaration of a national emergency to fund the construction of the border wall. This time, he wants to go further and deploy military assets at the border.
Trump on assassination attempt against him: “God saved me to make America great again”
“My life was saved for a reason. God saved me to make America great again,” Trump said, referring to the assassination attempt that occurred during a political rally in Pennsylvania last summer.
“With confidence and optimism, we are at the beginning of an exciting new era of national success,” he added, further stating that “a wave of change is sweeping the country.”
“The sunlight is spreading across the world, and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before,” Trump said.

Biden Granted Preemptive Pardon to His Siblings Before the Inauguration
Joe Biden granted preemptive pardons on Monday to his siblings, James and Frank, as well as to his sister, Valerie, along with their spouses.
“My family has been subjected to relentless attacks and threats, motivated solely by the desire to hurt me—the worst kind of partisan politics. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe that these attacks will stop,” Biden stated in his announcement.
He added that he believes “in the rule of law” and is “optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics.”
However, he continued, “Unfounded and politically motivated investigations cause chaos in the lives, safety, and financial security of the individuals targeted and their families. Even when individuals have done nothing wrong and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact that an investigation is being conducted or criminal charges are pursued can irreparably harm their reputation and finances.”
This last-minute announcement comes after the pardon granted by the president last month to his son, Hunter Biden, who was facing charges related to taxes and firearms.

Asked by reporters outside the White House if he had written a letter, Biden said “yes,” though he declined to provide further details.

President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump, after concluding their meeting at the White House, are traveling together in the same limousine to the U.S. Capitol for the inauguration ceremony.
The two did not travel together four years ago, as Trump famously did not attend Biden’s inauguration, but they are returning to the tradition that President Barack Obama upheld for Trump in 2017.
It is customary for the outgoing president to accompany the president-elect to the U.S. Capitol for the inauguration ceremony.
“Welcome Home,” Biden Said While Greeting Trump
“Welcome home,” President Joe Biden said to his successor, President-elect Donald Trump, as he welcomed him to the north entrance of the White House on Monday.
Trump’s return to the White House was not the best possible outcome for Biden, who once saw himself as the person who would prevent his opponent from returning to power.

Fox News: Trump to approve deployment of military forces to U.S. borders
President-elect Donald Trump will sign 11 executive orders related to U.S. border security, including one authorizing the deployment of American military forces to the U.S. borders, a Fox News journalist reported today in a post on X.
Another executive order will designate certain international cartels and criminal organizations as terrorist groups, while yet another will direct the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense to complete the construction of the border wall and deploy personnel to enforce border security, the journalist said, citing details from three of the orders obtained by the Fox reporter.
Trump expected to sign 10 executive orders on immigration
Donald Trump is expected to sign 10 executive orders related to one of his top priorities: immigration, according to a new White House official.
Trump’s adviser, Jason Miller, stated that the president-elect will initially focus on specific policies regarding borders and energy, many of which resemble those from his first term.
“The two main priorities really focus on securing the borders and also increasing our energy production,” Miller said. “We’ve talked about reopening some permits when it comes to energy production. If you liked President Trump’s policies, especially on the borders during his first term, I think you’ll like what you’ll see starting today.”
Biden’s pardons are not great news, says Trump’s lawyer
Jesse Binnall, one of President-elect Donald Trump’s private attorneys working on lawsuits related to January 6, stated on social media that the legal community was cautious about President Joe Biden’s preemptive pardons before Monday because they facilitate compelled testimony.
“Pardons are not actually great news. Anyone who just received a pardon will no longer be able to refuse to testify in civil, criminal, or congressional proceedings by invoking the Fifth Amendment,” Binnall wrote.
The pardon also won’t protect those who received it from congressional investigations or other types of inquiries, such as tax investigations, if these arise.
