On top of the fact that there is no protocol for families of survivors from the Norman Atlantic in the Italian Navy’s San Giorgio so they can communicate with their loved ones, they were also asked to surrender their mobile phones during the ship’s arrival to Brindisi.

According to the complainants, this is done to avoid any nightmarish footage of the Norman Atlantic, on the grounds that this information may be used in research the investigate the causes of the fire in the ship.

It is known that there is an investigation already underway on the maritime event directed by both Italian and Greek authorities.

The cellphones will be given by passengers to authorities during their exit from the warship.

The survivors are expected to present their testimonies before Italian authorities, while Greek authorities are already planning their return to their homeland without having clarified whether this will be done by air or by sea.
