Greek Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras in order to become popular among ministers and MPs in the Eurogroup says that he knows … Sharon Stone. And not just only does he know her, but he claims that the famous Hollywood actor is his first cousin.

For those who are not convinced Mr. Stournaras , according to “Vimatodotis”, he reveals the true story of his grandfather, Anargyros Stournaras, who left Greece and went to New York in the summer of 1910 so as to find a job. There he changed his name, as all Greek immigrants did to help American pronounce easier their surname. So from Anargyros Stournaras he became… Harris Stone.

The Finance Minister has inherited his grandfather’s identity with the surname Stone on it and displays it with pride among his friends saying that the famous actor is his first cousin. “We have the same surname,” he says . In fact, on Thurdsay when a photo of the famous actress featured on the first page of “Nea” newspaper, Mr Stournaras received at least 20 phone calls from friends asking him seriously only one thing: “Tell her to come to Greece so we can meet her. She is gorgeous”.
