A criminal organization that had “ravaged” stores in six counties was dismantled – Four arrests

They had committed a total of 20 thefts, thus obtaining illegal property benefit, exceeding 75,000 euros

A criminal organization, whose members had committed thefts in stores in Arcadia, Attica, Argolida, Corinthia, Boeotia, and Fthiotida, was dismantled.

For the dismantling of the criminal organization, an organized police operation was carried out yesterday in Attica, by police officers of the Department of Crime Detection and Investigation of Tripoli, in cooperation with police officers of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Teams (O.P.P.C.E.) of Arcadia and Attica, where 3 foreigners, aged 44, 33 and 43 years old, respectively, members of the criminal organization were arrested, as well as a 46-year-old foreigner, against whom a case was filed for harboring a criminal.

A case of criminal organization, aggravated theft and attempted theft, and money laundering from criminal activities was formed against them, which also includes a 54-year-old foreigner.

As for the timing of the dismantling, after a police investigation conducted by the Department of Crime Detection and Investigation of Tripoli, utilizing appropriate and combined evidence, it was found that, from the year 2023, those mentioned above formed a criminal organization to commit shoplifting in Arcadia, Attica, Argolida, Corinthia, Boeotia, and Fthiotida.

Specifically, they committed a total of 20 cases of shoplifting in shops, where they removed various products and tobacco products, as well as 2 cases of attempted shoplifting, thus obtaining illegal pecuniary benefits exceeding 75,000 euros.

Finally, in a search conducted in the homes and shops of the arrested persons, the following were found and seized:

– 2 vehicles, as means of committing criminal acts,
– the sum of 5,525 euros, as the proceeds of criminal acts
– 9 mobile phones,
– 1 signal jamming device, 1 portable metal-drilling device,
– several burglary tools,
– polyurethane foam and
– numerous items (tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, and other consumables), as stolen goods.

The arrested persons will be taken to the appropriate authorities, while the police investigation and the preliminary investigation work are being continued by the Department of Crime Investigation and Detection of Crimes of Tripoli, in order to determine their possible participation in the commission of other similar offences.
