After 16 hours spent on a ledge of Big Ben in London,
a man with a Palestinian flag was finally persuaded to come down.
The barefoot man spent most of the day on a ledge several metres up the Elizabeth Tower at Westminster Palace in central London, holding a Palestinian flag and wrapping a Palestinian headscarf around the tower’s decorative stone.
Throughout Saturday, negotiators and emergency crews spoke with the man several feet away, appealing for him to come down.
He had told negotiators he would come down “on his terms.”
Due to the incident, Bridge Street, located on the north side of the Westminster Bridge, was closed to facilitate the authorities’ intervention.
