Marinakis announced cabinet reshuffle – Government’s new ministerial lineup (updated)

The new cabinet after the reshuffle by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was announced by government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis. According to him, the swearing-in ceremony will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 11:00 AM, followed by the first cabinet meeting.

Changes from the Previous Government

Compared to the previous government, the ministers removed from their positions include:

  • Transport Minister Christos Staikouras
  • Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis
  • Migration and Asylum Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos
  • Maritime Minister Christos Stylianidis

Additionally, nine deputy ministers were removed, while twelve new individuals joined the government.

Kostis Hatzidakis, the former Finance Minister, has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister at Maximos Mansion, with Kyriakos Pierrakakis taking over as Finance Minister.

Due to Pierrakakis’ transfer, Sofia Zacharaki has moved to the Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, with Domna Michailidou taking her previous role. Elena Rapti has been appointed as Deputy Minister for Family Affairs, leaving her former position in the Ministry of Tourism, which is now held by Anna Karamanli.

At the Ministry of Education, the former Secretary General, Nikos Papaiwannou, and MP Kostas Vlasis have been appointed as Deputy Ministers.

Christos Dimas, previously Deputy Minister of Finance, is now Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, with Giorgos Kotsiras replacing him in Finance. Konstantinos Kyranakis has been appointed Deputy Minister for Transport.

Makis Voridis is now leading the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, with MP Sevi Voloudaki as Deputy Minister.

Stavros Papastavrou returns to government as Minister of Environment and Energy. Nikos Tsafos, previously an advisor to the Prime Minister, is now Deputy Minister for Energy Affairs.

Vasilis Kikilias takes over the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, with Stefanos Gikas remaining as Deputy Minister.

Finally, former Minister Notis Mitarakis, who was rumored for a new government role, is expected to be proposed as Secretary of New Democracy, replacing Maria Syreggela.

The reshuffle reflects a strategic shift within the government as it looks to strengthen key sectors.
