Greek sales begin on Monday, January 12, and run through February 28. During the sales, shops will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 18. The items on sale are required by law to show the old and new prices as well as indicate the percentage of the discount.
What the Consumers Union of Greece advises?
* Consumers should scale their purchasing priorities according to their real household needs and financial situation. A list of items needed should be created.
* Consumers are advised to “shop around” and not buy on impulse.
* Consumers shouldn’t rush as discounts will run through to February 28.
* Consumers should make sure they receive receipts as this is the only way in which they can be returned in the case of faulty products and it is also a way to prevent tax evasion.
* Consumer should have detailed instructions when buying in installments.
The General Secretariat of the Consumer can be reached by calling 1520. Consumers are advised to call in cases where retailers are not in line with the law.
