The Commission is putting in place the new draft of the European Union Preparedness Strategy.

The Commission announced that the Europe must strengthen the storage of vital equipment and encourage citizens to maintain sufficient supplies for at least 72 hours in case of emergencies.

According to the Commission, the European Union is preparing for risks such as natural disasters, cyber attacks and geopolitical crises including the case of an armed attack against countries in the European bloc.

“Families living in zones at risk of flooding need to know what to do when water levels rise. Early warning systems can prevent the loss of valuable time in areas affected by fires,” Commission President Ursula von der Leyen explained in a statement.

The strategy focuses on improving early warning systems, ensuring continuity in the provision of essential services such as health care, drinking water supplies and helping to prepare citizens to respond to crises.
