Konstantopoulou: I am talking to myself about becoming Prime Minister, I am not ready but I am getting ready

Let Tsipras stay in his hole, I am not in favour of drachma but it is good to have a digital currency as an alternative

Newsroom April 10 12:38

Zoe Konstantopoulou spoke on Wednesday night about the possibility of becoming prime minister at some point, the rise of Course of Freedom in the polls, the drachma and the alternative digital currency, as well as the “burrow” for Alexis Tsipras.

Asked on the show “Autopsy” and Antonis Sroiter if she feels ready to be prime minister, the leader of Course of Freedom replied “I discuss it with myself, I accept it as a moving message from women and girls because if it happens I will be the first woman. It is a very big responsibility. It is a responsibility that I will be ready to respond to, not now. I am preparing and will continue to prepare every day.”

When asked if she is afraid of responsibility, she replied “love responsibility, says Kazantzakis. I am not talking about positions of power but about positions of responsibility. I do not declare myself ready but preparing to be prime minister. What needs to be done will require many forces and great participation from the people.”

“I have never said about returning to the drachma”

When asked to clarify whether she wants a return to the drachma, Zoe Konstantopoulou said “I have never said about returning to the drachma. I do not believe in any currency as if it were a panacea. No currency is sacred. I believe that the people should be sovereign and not be blackmailed. No one should be able to tell them I am turning off the tap and you have nothing to eat like in 2015. Today, if something like this were to happen, I believe that we should have a digital currency in our quiver as an alternative, despite the theories and dogmatisms of currencies.”

Konstantopoulou on Tsipras: He should stay in the hole, we have better people – I supported him

As for Alexis Tsipras and whether she should owe him a favor for making her Speaker of the House, Mrs. Konstantopoulou noted “I entered the position of Speaker of the House because I refused to join the government. Tsipras offered me the Ministry of Interior and I already had disagreements about the collaboration with Kammenos. It seemed that he did not want me to take over the Justice sector in which I had worked a lot. I defended Tsipras as a lawyer when he made his first statements before he even entered the House against the privatization of OTE and the manipulation. I defended his partner when she clashed with the establishment of the University of Patras when they had stolen her job. I supported him when I believed he was a man of our generation who could make a change.”

He insisted on the phrase “stay in the hole” for the former prime minister, saying “we have much better people in society. What can a man who took the people’s trust that he would clash with the memoranda and interests and did the opposite have to offer? And he did what the worst right-wing prime minister has not done, he violated the mandate of the referendum. He governed for 4 years in an anti-social manner, he brought in a pension that brought society to the brink, he implemented repression that I have experienced firsthand at auctions. The cages were like Tetris blocks arranged to hide Maximus.”

How she commented on the rise of the Freedom Voyage in the polls

Regarding the polls, the leader of the Course of Freedom said “I am fighting to change the world and our country. When I fight for something, I do not fight for fun, I do the same in my work where I take on cases that many consider lost. My reading of the polls is as if a veil has been lifted and the truth has been illuminated that things change and man can change the course of history”.

“In 2023 we did not say we are going to govern but to show what the opposition model is. At this moment when we see that the people are asking for more, we are preparing for more. My commitment is to work hard to propose at the level of government proposals those with which we will invite the people”.
