A new lead came in search efforts for Ben Needham, the little boy who went missing on the Aegean isle of Kos 24 years ago. The information surfaced during a tribute on private Greek ALPHA TV’s popular TV show, “Light at the End of the Tunnel”, the program tries to reunite loved ones after they’ve gone missing.
Kerry Needham, the boy’s mother, appeared on the show – seen by millions of viewers around Greece – via satellite.
During the show, a Greek businessman called in to give information that he had been privy to when he served time in prison on financial charges. He disclosed the name of a Roma family allegedly involved in the 21-month-old boy’s abduction. The boy had been snatched and left the island hidden in crates of fruit.
The businessman was prompted to give this information after suffering the loss of a loved one, realizing what it is to feel this type of pain.
This is the third time that the show has focused on Ben. In 2011, a retired gynecologist had come forward with claims that he had met a boy in hospital in Larissa in 1992 who had said, “Hello! My name is Ben!” The boy, a blond “tourist boy”, was with a woman that the doctor knew was unable to have children.
