A severe heatwave is expected to affect most parts of the country over the next few days, with temperatures peaking from Thursday through Sunday.
Despite the peak this four-day period, high temperatures will persist through Wednesday, June 11, maintaining intense heat conditions across much of the territory, according to Thodoros Kolydas.
In fact, as the meteorologist points out, the temperature in Attica is expected to reach 35 to 36°C, while in the mainland the thermometer will climb even higher, reaching 37°C in places. The highest temperatures will be recorded in the interior of the mainland, in areas far from the sea breeze that acts as a natural regulator. On the contrary, in coastal areas the maximum will be up to 3-4 degrees lower.
However, it says the minimum temperatures will drop satisfactorily in the evening hours.
Weather forecast for Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service:
General clear weather. A few local clouds will develop in the midday – afternoon hours in the continental highlands where local rainfall is possible in the central and northern areas. Visibility in the early morning in the Ionian Sea and the western mainland will be limited in places. Winds will blow from the north at 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the southeast locally 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will rise slightly. It will reach 27 to 29 degrees Celsius in the islands and 30 degrees in the east, 31 to 33 degrees Celsius in the mainland and 34 degrees Celsius in some places.
