The meeting was confirmed by government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis in an interview with Alpha 98.9. According to reports, the head of the Church of Greece arrived alone, without any aides, and dined with the Prime Minister and his spouse.

Reportedly, they discussed developments concerning the Monastery of Saint Catherine of Sinai—a matter the Archbishop had recently brought to public attention. He had expressed concern over the loss of the monastery’s assets and the broader questioning of its ownership by the Egyptian side.

The private meeting lasted for some time, with the Archbishop departing the Prime Minister’s residence late at night.
