Beton 7 Center of the Arts in Gazi, Athens, hosts a tribute to Thanos Murray, the first Greek Dadaist, which is scheduled to run until February 7. Many parallel events will take place during the event, such as exhibitions, discussions, lectures, film screenings, audio installations and performances.
Thanos Murray – Velloudios was born in Athens in 1895. A poet and an aviator, he took part in World War I and the Greco-Turkish war of 1922, before embracing the Dadaist movement. In 1927 and 1930, he worked with famous Greek lyric poet and playwright Angelos Sikelianos in his Delphic Festivals. He also participated as an actor in several films of the Greek cinema.
The tribute is curated by poet and artist Demosthenes Agrafiotis.
