Inauguration of Fredi Beleris Exhibition at the European Parliament – “We work for the promotion of our Homeland and its positions abroad”

The exhibition "History, Culture and Traditional Products of Greek Regions" aims to highlight the cultural wealth, folklore and authentic products of our country

The opening of the exhibition entitled: “History, Culture and Traditional Products of Greek Regions” organized by the Member of the New Democracy and the EPP, Fredi Beleris June 23-26 at the premises of the European Parliament (YEHUDI MENUHIN Hall), with the support of the European People’s Party.

During the event, the Hellenic Lyceum of Brussels presented a program of traditional dances, accompanied by a Northern Epirotic orchestra.

The main purpose of the exhibition is to promote the cultural wealth, folklore and authentic products of our country. Special pavilions from the Regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Epirus and Peloponnese present local products and audiovisual material.

At the same time, traditional costumes of these regions, as well as of Northern Epirus, are on display, while a photo exhibition of personalities, heroes and events of 1821-1830 by the artist Ilias Pergantis is taking place.

The opening ceremony was attended by, among others, the Representative of the Church of Greece, Bishop Apostolos of Tanagra, the regional governor of the Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos, the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, the Deputy Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Branislav Prelevic, Anastasia Simou, Vice-Regional Governor of Epirus, Nikolaos Lyssaridis, Vice-Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, and the President of the Greek Women’s High School of Brussels, Litsa Katsas-Tomara, George Avtias and Dimitris Tsiodras, Members of the European Parliament of the New Democracy, Yannis Maniatis, Nikos Papandreou and Sakis Arnaoutoglou, Members of the European Parliament of PASOK-KINAL.

The event was also addressed by the Commissioner for Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, as well as the representative of the EU Commissioner for Fisheries, Mr.Vangelis Demiris. Finally, the Permanent Representation of Greece to the European Union and the Embassy of Greece in Belgium showed their full support with their presence.

A big thank you to the Regional Governors of the Peloponnese and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Dimitris Ptochos and Christodoulos Topsidis, as well as the Vice-Regional Governors of Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia and Epirus, Nikos Lyssaridis, Branislav Prelevic and Anastasia Simou, who travelled to Brussels for this purpose.
