Passenger traffic from the port of Piraeus to the islands is particularly high, according to data from the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy.

A total of 15,112 passengers were recorded. This is one of the highest rates in recent days, indicative of the heavy traffic to the islands ahead of the weekend.

The total number of passengers in the Tzelepi sector for the three-day period Friday-Sunday is 38,770 passengers, only for the routes to the islands (excluding the Saronic Gulf).

The volume of traffic confirms the increased demand for sea transport, which is attributed to the beginning of the tourist season on the one hand, and to the increased tendency of citizens to escape on summer weekends on the other.
