Coordinated aerial water drops to contain fire in Pikermi

14 aircraft and 7 helicopters have been deployed for firefighting - Watch video of the airborne firefighters operating at the scene

The firefighting forces continue to battle flames in Pikermi. Agia Kyriaki, Etos Steko and Emeros Pine have already been evacuated, while strong ground and air forces are operating.

14 aircraft and 7 helicopters, including one for coordination, have been deployed for aerial firefighting. In the videos presented by protothema.gr, you can see the coordination of the aircraft making successive water drops on a front to contain it:

 

Fire in Pikermi (10)

The fire is being attended by 170 firefighters with 48 vehicles, 8 forestry teams and a large number of volunteer firefighters and volunteer vehicles.

At the same time, water trucks and project machinery of the Region of Attica and the General Staff of the National Defence Force are assisting.

The ELAS rescued civilians, on a standby ambulance, Coast Guard

Forces of ELAS have carried out 30 evacuations of civilians and 8 rescues, while traffic has been stopped on both streams of Marathonos Avenue and the vertical roads, at the height of the areas affected by the fire.

The ECAB has deployed two ambulances and two emergency motorcycles in the area, while the hospitals on duty, Georgios Gennimatas, Sotiria, Hippocrates, and Red Cross, as well as the Health Centers of Nea Makris, Spata and Rafina, are on standby.

Finally, the Limenikon is on standby, while passenger ferries bound for the port of Rafina to the port of Lavrio have been redirected. A ship with the final destination of Rafina returned to the port of departure Marmari, Evia.
