Giorgos Mazonakis: Discharge for the singer – “All good,” he said (video-photos)

The singer did not wish to answer questions about his family – “He will take legal action,” his lawyer had announced

Newsroom August 18 01:44

After five days of hospitalization, Giorgos Mazonakis was discharged from Dromokaitio on the morning of Monday, August 18, after being re-examined by psychiatrists. During all these days, the singer remained in constant communication with his lawyer, with whom he was planning his next legal and personal steps. It is estimated that the artist is expected to soon go on the counterattack and will provide clarifications about what he has been experiencing.

His admission to the psychiatric clinic took place following a prosecutor’s order, at the request of his father and sister, without his own consent. He insists that he does not suffer from any psychiatric disorder. When he boarded the car waiting for him outside the psychiatric facility, Giorgos Mazonakis spoke to reporters, thanking them for their interest and the way they had treated him.

“Thank you very much, all of you, be well. Everything is fine, thank you for the way you treated me. Thank you very much. I have nothing more to say,” said the singer with a smile.

According to the TV program Kalokairi Parea, the singer was examined again today by psychiatrists, who then submitted a report to the prosecutor, based on which it was decided whether Giorgos Mazonakis needed hospitalization or not.

“It is expected that today he will be discharged. Let’s note here that the legal procedure that began last Thursday is not so simple. The information we are receiving from Dromokaitio is that, based on the legal process, today again two psychiatrists will re-examine Giorgos Mazonakis, write a report that will go to the prosecutor, and he will then decide whether to impose the measure of involuntary hospitalization or not,” the report stated.

His lawyer, in a phone call with the program, explained that the singer does not require psychiatric or psychological hospitalization and referred to his next moves.

“There are specific conditions that must be met for involuntary hospitalization. The patient must not be able to judge his condition and must pose a danger to himself or others in order for it to proceed without his consent. These specific individuals [his family] have had no contact with Giorgos Mazonakis for the last two years. He does not require psychiatric or psychological hospitalization,” he said.

He then spoke about their most recent communication and noted that the singer will take legal action against his family.

“Our last discussion was that Giorgos is optimistic and is talking with his doctor. He is a little worn out from the whole affair, but he is in good condition. Further examinations are expected, and by noon or afternoon he will return home. Giorgos Mazonakis will take legal action regarding everything that has happened in recent days,” he said.
