Complete closure of Amalias Avenue on Sunday morning – Gradual traffic measures on main roads starting Saturday

Starting at 00:00 on Saturday, there will be a gradual traffic interruption in the two right lanes of Vasilissis Amalias Avenue (from Souri Street to Vasilissis Sofias Avenue). On Sunday (07:00–13:00), there will be a full traffic closure along the entire length of the avenue in both directions, due to the “Greece Race for the Cure 2025” Run & Walk Event.

According to the announcement by the Traffic Police, the traffic measures are as follows:

Gradual traffic interruption in the two right lanes of Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, from Souri Street to Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, starting at 00:00 on Saturday, September 27, 2025, and complete traffic closure along the entire length of Vasilissis Amalias Avenue in both directions, from 07:00 to 13:00 on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Gradual traffic interruption on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 00:00 to 13:00, as follows:

Syngrou Avenue, between Athanasiou Diakou Street and Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, in the direction toward Syntagma Square.

Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, along its entire length and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Athanasiou Diakou Street, along its entire length in the direction toward Syngrou Avenue.

Gradual traffic interruption on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 00:00 to 13:00, as follows:

Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, between Vasilissis Amalias Avenue and Zacharof Street, in both directions and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue:

Along its entire length, in the direction toward Ardittou Street, and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Between Spyrou Merkouri Street and Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, in the uphill direction toward Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Irodou Attikou Street, along its entire length and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Vasileos Georgiou B’ Street, along its entire length and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

Meleagrou Street, between Hisiodou Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.

Aravantinou Street, between Hisiodou Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.

Kleanthous Street, between Vasileos Georgiou B’ Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.

Akadimias Street, between Charilaou Trikoupi Street and Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, and on its side streets up to the first parallel road.

There will be a ban on vehicle crossings along the event route during the hours when these sections are closed, except at the following controlled intersections:

Drivers are kindly requested, for their own convenience and to prevent accidents, to exercise particular caution when passing through the above areas and to follow the existing road signs and the instructions of traffic police officers.

Meanwhile, the 43rd Spartathlon started at 07:00 on Saturday morning beneath the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis and will conclude once the 36-hour time limit has elapsed, on Sunday, September 28, in the city of Sparta.
It is worth noting that the route follows the same path as the ancient messenger Pheidippides, who ran to Sparta to request immediate help during the Battle of Marathon against the Persians.
