The bear began its journey from Kranidia, Servia, and covered a distance of about 20 kilometers toward Kaisareia, Kozani, swimming for more than 90 minutes. According to witnesses, the bear remained in the water throughout the entire crossing and did not appear to tire.
The extraordinary event was recorded on a mobile phone by Thanasis Gambouras, a professional fisherman who was out on his boat on the lake.
“I was anxious to see if it would make it to shore — and also a bit afraid it might approach my boat,” he said, noting that he had never seen anything like it on Lake Polyfytos before.
After successfully completing its long swim, the bear reached the shore and disappeared into the forest.
