Varoufakis: No “referendum”, they agreed on our reforms!

The government may have denied a "referendum" but from the moment the word was uttered it is out on the table!

Newsroom March 10 09:58

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis explained during the press conference following Eurogroup on Monday how the matter of a referendum came to pass. He said that in the framework of a conference in Italy, he explained why there should not be an exit from the euro. The specific journalist heard this and asked for an interview. During the interview, Varoufakis was asked what Greece would do if EU partners rejected Greece’s proposals. Hypothetically, he said that if the Eurogroup rejected each one of the Greek proposals there would be no other choice but to turn to the nation. This hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question was made the interview’s banner.

He said that Greece’s reforms have been accepted and there is no need to consider a referendum. Varoufakis was critical of media distortions.
