Toxicology tests are expected to shed light on the exact cause of death of the 16-year-old outside a club in Gazi in the early hours of last Sunday. The autopsy revealed that the death was due to pulmonary edema, but only the toxicology and histology tests will reveal the real cause.
Friends who were with her that fateful night revealed that they visited two entertainment venues and had also been at a friend’s house beforehand. At the last club they visited, the 16-year-old felt unwell, stepped outside the venue, and shortly after collapsed on the steps of the neighboring building.
In a video published by Star, the minor is seen with her friends entering a mini market in Gazi, buying something, and then leaving the store, heading toward the club on Dekeleon Street. According to statements from three of her friends, they had previously been at another entertainment venue.
“Yes, on Saturday night we were with her… We went to a liquor store and bought a bottle of vodka. We sat on the street, talked, and drank the bottle. After about an hour, we went to the club. We went inside and had a drink there too. Suddenly, Anna said she wasn’t feeling well, so we went outside. Suddenly, while we were there, Anna collapsed,” said a friend of the minor.
The mother of one of the 16-year-old’s friends also mentioned that the group had been getting ready at home and having fun before going out for drinks. “They hadn’t drunk anything at home. They got ready, did their makeup, one girl had a birthday, I even cut her a cake, and then they went out,” she said.
At the club in Gazi, the group appears to have stayed for about an hour, with the girl having one drink. When she felt unwell, she asked her friends to go outside.
Heartbreaking are the words revealed by her friend about the girl’s last moments: “The last words we heard from our friend were ‘I love you’ directed at us, and I’m glad I heard those words that night.”
