Wintertime takes effect at dawn on Sunday, October 26. Specifically, at 04:00 the clock hands will be moved back one hour, to 03:00.
The time change is applied in all European Union countries as part of a common energy-saving policy. However, its abolition has been under consideration for years – but so far there has been no final decision.
The official statement from the Department for Transport said: “We remind you that, on Sunday 26 October 2025, the daylight saving time measure will expire, in accordance with Directive 2000/84 of the European Parliament and of the Council of EE19/01/2001 on summer time provisions. The hands of the clocks must be moved back one hour, i.e. from 04:00 am to 03:00 am.”
