G7 will hold a meeting at Brussels on Wednesday where Russia will not participate for the first time after 17 years. G7 decided to exclude Russia and Vladimir Putin from the discussions because of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
Although Russia will not participate officially in the processes, the Russian president will talk separately with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Cameron and French President Hollande.
The seven leaders are expected to put some pressure on the president Putin to meet the new president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, and talk about the formation of the new Ukraine and a future trade agreement with the EU.
During the meeting of the seven major developed countries (USA, Germany, France, Britain, Canada, Japan and Italy) discussions will focus on issues such as the tensions in Ukraine, the war in Syria, Mali and Central African Republic, energy issues, such as energy decoupling of Europe from Russia and the reduction of carbon emissions and economic issues, such as the negotiations for the transatlantic agreement between EU and U.S. and global growth.
“The support of growth and jobs remains the top priority for the meeting of G7. The leaders are expected to seek continuous and sustainable growth to reduce unemployment, with particular reference to long-term unemployed and young people,” the official memo of the summit included, according to Reuters.
