Against the backdrop of yesterday’s national success with the election of Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis as President of the Eurogroup, the Parliamentary Group of New Democracy is currently meeting under the leadership of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The meeting takes place ahead of the Budget discussion, which will culminate in its vote on Tuesday. The Prime Minister is expected to mention Pierrakakis’s election and defend the government’s economic policy, while urging New Democracy MPs to communicate the budget’s message to their constituencies, presenting it as a bridge toward a six-year economic plan extending to 2030.

“The approval of the budget is a positive response to the question of whether Greece will continue its upward path or return to dead ends and troubles. This year’s budget is social and developmental — realistic and reform-oriented. It includes permanent measures that support the middle class, the youth, and families. It takes care of our fellow citizens in the regions, especially in the remote areas. It provides a safety net for the vulnerable. And its steady guide is the continuous reduction of taxes and the increase of incomes,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated: “Our plan not only defines the economic policy for 2026 — it also outlines the national strategy through 2030. For a country different from the one we inherited. 2.9 billion euros will be directed to society, supporting disposable income with permanent increases and stable tax relief.”
