This development confirms earlier reports from several American media outlets that identified Nick Reiner as the main suspect in the double homicide. Nick has a history of drug use and homelessness.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle, were found dead at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles, with injuries to their necks consistent with stabbing. Reports mention a violent argument inside the house before the incident.

One of their daughters found the couple and alerted the police, pointing to a family member as a possible suspect and warning that he should be considered dangerous.

Who is Nick Reiner?

Nick is one of the couple’s sons. They also have another son, Jake, and a daughter, Romy. Rob Reiner also has a daughter, Tracy, from a previous marriage.

Nick has openly discussed his struggles with serious drug addiction since his teenage years. Born on September 14, 1993, he entered rehab for the first time around age 15 and had been through more than a dozen treatment programs by 2016.

In 2016, he described periods of homelessness in states like Maine, New Jersey, and Texas, explaining that he chose to leave rehab programs.

Alongside his recovery efforts, Nick turned to writing. He wrote the screenplay for the film Being Charlie, loosely based on his own life experiences. The film was directed by his father, Rob Reiner, who described it as the most personal movie he has ever made.

Nick admitted in a 2016 interview that he did not have a close relationship with his father during childhood due to differing interests. Their collaboration on Being Charlie marked a point of connection and understanding between them.
