A list of reforms submitted by the Greek government to the Brussels Group reportedly includes the sale of a majority stake in the Piraeus Port Authority as well as the sale of 14 regional airports, two major privatizations tenders that the new leftist government promised to overturn before it came to power.
Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis announced from Beijing that the port authority tender — which entered the last stages of awarding prior to the Jan. 25 election — would continue, causing reactions from ruling SYRIZA’s leftist wing.
According to Reuters on Friday, Dragasakis was quoted by Xinhua as saying the port tender would be finalized in a few weeks.
He added that Chinese multinational Cosco, considered amongst the favorites to assume the controlling share of the port, has tabled a competitive bid.
